Still in love with all three

Some relationships deserve to be remembered long after the moment has passed. I create refined equine and canine portraits for those who believe the love they share with their animals is worthy of becoming timeless artwork. Every detail, from planning your session to designing the finished pieces for your home, is crafted with care, and intention.

Hi there, I’m Maren,  the photographer behind Stirrups & Styles. As a lifelong equestrian and dog lover, I know firsthand that our animals aren't just companions, they're family, teachers, and partners through every season of life. That's why I've dedicated my business to creating artwork that honors those once-in-a-lifetime relationships.

We know our horses and dogs are never "just an animal." They're your best friend, your partner, your biggest source of comfort, and often the reason you smile after a long day.

That's exactly why I started Stirrups & Styles Photography.

I've spent most of my life around horses, and I know how quickly the years seem to pass. It wasn't until I lost a puppy unexpectedly at just six months old that I truly understood how priceless photographs can be. In what felt like the blink of an eye, the time I thought I'd have with him became memories. The photos I had of him suddenly meant everything.

I didn't start this business because I wanted to own a camera. I started it because I believe the relationships we have with our animals deserve to be remembered in a way that lasts. Not hidden away on a phone or forgotten on a hard drive, but displayed where you can see them every day.

When you book a session with me, I want you to feel like a VIP and I want to session and images to be genuine. No pressure to be perfect, just time spent with the horse or dog that means the world to you. My job is to notice the little things: the expression you love, the way they look at you, the moments that feel ordinary now but will mean everything years from today.

Those are the memories worth holding onto, and it's an honor to help preserve them.

A person in a beige long-sleeve top and blue jeans poses casually on green grass in an outdoor setting.

A couple fun facts about me:

  • If I'm at a gathering or party, I prefer an Irish goodbye.
  • I thoroughly enjoy making others laugh.
  • I am a major introvert, but you'd never know.
  • I have 4 horses and ride dressage and jumpers.
  • If I had to choose between going out to a party or going on a trail ride, I'd choose the latter.
  • I like to use big words... in my head, but I typically jumble them when I say them out loud.
  • I hate social media, but I see it as an excellent tool.

I have a background working with horses and dogs, so I naturally pursued that niche.

I'm well versed with horses and dogs, and I know that loving them isn't enough when it comes to photography. I bring the knowledge and skill of how to work with them, by understanding how they move, how they think, and how to get their attention, so I can deliver high-quality, stellar images you actually love.

I tend to lean towards a clean, crisp style of photos. I LOVE color, so I aim for clear, really nicely lit images.

"It was my first photoshoot ever with my dog, and I loved every second of it with Maren. She explained everything so well and made both me and my dog feel super comfortable, which made the whole experience so fun.

When it came time to pick photos, it was actually hard because they were all so good!

I’ll definitely remember this moment with my dog forever through these photos. Thank you so much, Maren, for such a special experience.

Highly recommend!"

Why Choose Me to Take Your Pet’s Photos?

I speak horse, dog, and human

With over a decade of experience working with horses and dogs (and even longer with humans 😉), I know how to read body language. Why does that matter? Because you can  see  discomfort in a photo, even if it’s subtle. I thrive on those genuine moments that show off you, your dog, and your horse exactly as they are.

Fine art style that lasts

Crisp, clear, and printed to last for generations.

I work with natural light for true-to-life colors that will never go out of style.

Your experience comes first

You’re not just paying for incredible digital photos and heirloom artwork, you’re paying for the entire experience. I work to make sure you feel prepared and confident, offering grooming tips, styling ideas, and posing guidance for you!

Communication is key

I’m quick to respond, whether it’s via call, text, or email, and I keep you in the loop!

Patience for every personality

If your horse needs a snack, a quick lunge, or your dog has a case of the zoomies, I roll with it. We work on their schedule, not the other way around.

Why You’ll Love Working with Me

  • I’m bubbly, positive, and encouraging.
  • I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, life happens, and I get it.
  • I’m your #1 hype girl, making sure your feeling good, and your session feels fun.
  • I come prepared with tools, tricks, and an assistant to keep things running smoothly.
  • You don’t have to know what to do! I’ll pose you and guide your animal so you both look your best.

What Makes Me Different?

  • I work exclusively with natural lighting, no bulky studio gear to haul around.
  • Sessions are flexible, and easygoing.
  • I understand animal behavior, so I can anticipate their needs and capture them at their best.

I promise you two things: your animal will adore me, and you’ll have photos you can’t stop looking at.

Let’s start planning your session — your next favorite photo is waiting.

When I’m not behind the camera, you can usually find me…

Spending time with my husband!

He's my #1 cheerleader, advisor, and my best friend.

We are foodies so you'll most likely find us enjoying a meal together, a good local brew, or cooking from home.

A series of photos showing a person and horse practicing jumps and training exercises in an outdoor arena.

Riding my horses!

Not only am I an equine photographer I am also an equestrian! I've been riding since I can remember and I ride dressage with my two half sister warmbloods.

Training and spending time with my dogs!

Dogs have been a staple in my life since I was a little girl. I can't go more than a couple hours without missing my little fur babies!
